From Team Tanzania - Paula

Greetings from Tengeru! Some Tanzanian team firsts on this trip affected our day today (July 13): Various team members have been a little under the weather, we had heavy overnight rain (which we agreed was great for sleeping conditions), and the power went out for the morning and most of the afternoon starting at 8:30 a.m.

Nicole, Gary, Bruce and Paula drove the short distance into Tengeru to experience market day and to pick up some fresh produce and bottled water. Tengeru is known for its large market, and it was bustling with many people.

Our teaching today was close to our home base. We left around 3:45 p.m. to travel just 4 km, but due to the roads, made slightly worse by overnight rain, it took about a half hour to arrive at the orphanage that was our destination. There we were greeted by 29 children and four adults. Gary doubled up lessons to cover what Jeff usually teaches. Bruce plays guitar, and we sing a song in Swahili between each lesson. Pastor Jeremiah translates, and helps to lead the singing. This group of children was very attentive, and they sang their own song for us when our presentation was over.

Happily, the power was back on when we arrived home, so we were able to make our pizza dinner. After our evening devotion we sang through "In Christ Alone," which we intend to sing for the Ambureni congregation during the church service tomorrow.
We are enjoying reading the blog posts from the other teams!

Mungu akubariki!
